Monica Janse van Rensburg registered as a Professional Nurse (General, Psychiatry and Community) and Midwife on 1 January 1997. She took a position at a Neuro-Orthopaedic Intensive Care Unit in Pretoria and after gaining specialised and extensive knowledge in the field of Orthopaedics and Neurology, she moved to the Trauma Intensive Care Unit in 2000.

In 2003, Monica set out to study Law and completed her Bachelors of Law degree in 2006. She completed the Certificate in Medicine and the Law in 2007.
In 2009 Monica took a senior position in the Neuro-Orthopaedic Intensive Care Unit before relocating to Cape Town in 2010 where she worked at a Cardiac-thoracic Intensive Care Unit. In 2012 Monica completed her contract of articles at a prominent law firm, specialising in the field of personal injury litigation. Her medical background and knowledge proved to be invaluable. She was admitted as an attorney in February 2014.

In August 2014, Monica joined the dynamic team at Gert Nel Incorporated. She is head of the Medical Negligence Department and has successfully litigated and settled various complex medical negligence claims.
